Are you up for the challenge of the Kauai surf? The island has a wide range of waves that will suit any level of proficiency. Learning to surf may seem like a daunting task at first, but Kauai has all of the resources you need to become an expert. At the local surfing shops there are a variety of different surfboard sizes. The bigger the board, the easier it is to stand on. If you are a beginner be sure to look for the right waves. Start out on the waves that have already crumbled. The 20 foot picturesque surfing waves may have to wait until next trip.

If you are interested in taking lessons you can learn from world champion surfers. There are daily lessons available and you can call in advance to set up a time that will fit your schedule. The surfing schools offer individual and group lessons. Many of the surfing instructors are CPR, Life Guard, and First Aid certified to make sure you are safe. It is important that you understand the risks and proficiency of the instructors, so please make sure to ask safety questions in advance.
