New Years Eve on Kauai

Few places celebrate the holidays in grand fashion like the Hawaiian islands. This is especially true of Kauai, which caps off the festive season with New Year celebrations of all types, ranging from culinary feasts to cultural events and fireworks displays. Here are three New Years Eve events on Kauai that are well worth checking out.

Poipu Beach New Yearís Eve Fireworks

If you’re looking for a family friendly way to ring in the new year, head to Poipu Beach Park. On December 31, 2016 a celebration will take over the area and include food booths and food trucks, a beachside movie, live entertainment, kids activities, and a fantastic fireworks display. The event starts at 5:30pm and the fireworks will begin at 8:15pm. Not only is the Poipu Beach NYE celebration great for families, it’s also ideal for those who want to have fun on a budget as it’s free to the pubic.

New Years Eve Dinner at Dondero’s

A number of upscale restaurants on Kauai will be open on New Years Eve, including the Grand Hyatt’s Dondero’s. The Italian restaurant will serve a special menu filled with gourmet delights and celebratory drinks. Some of the dishes that will be available include lobster arancini with Osetra caviar, black garlic rubbed veal chops, and antipasto misto. You can choose to dine a la carte or go for the three course prix-fixe menu that costs $85 per person. It’s definitely best to make a reservation to ensure you get a table at this popular event.

Peace & Aloha 2017 Slack Key Guitar & Ukulele Concert

Traditional Hawaiian ukulele and slack key guitar music has no equal, and this concert put on by Doug and Sandy McMaster will provide a unique way to celebrate New Years Eve. The aim of the show is to provide a feeling of peace and relaxation as 2017 approaches — if you prefer an alternative to the typical chaotic NYE party, this is a great option. The concert is family friendly and will go from 6pm to 8pm on December 31, 2016. Tickets can be bought at the door and will cost $10 for kids age 6 to 12, $20 for guests age 13 to 19 or 50+, and $25 for everyone else.
