Planning a destination wedding can be an exciting and daunting process. My sweetheart and I were married off the coast of Fiji, and boy was it a process; the swim alone almost did us in! Well, as your friendly, local Poipu Beach seal, I’m here to help…that is, with the assistance of my friends at the Beach House Restaurant, of course.
The Beach House Restaurant is a Kauai gem. Located right on the oceanfront of the south shore, just west of Poipu, this place is the picture-perfect location for your Kauai destination wedding. The south-facing windows provide uninterrupted and unparalleled views of the ocean – an ideal backdrop for an island ceremony. This aspect alone should be encouragement enough to check it out. But, that’s not all. The Beach House Restaurant has made planning a wedding with them incredibly easy and efficient. They have designed a set of packages to make planning a wedding effortless – especially from afar.
At the Beach House Restaurant, clients have options regarding venue, menu, and add-ons.
Venue:
All ceremonies ($1,650-$1,750 – see “Add-ons below) are held on the oceanfront. Receptions, ($2,000-$10,000 foo
d and beverage minimum depending on package or room) on the other hand, can be held in an outdoor covered Lanai (ocean view) or in any of the large rooms available inside the restaurant. Having indoor and outdoor options allows you to rest easy knowing that your big day won’t get rained out.
Menu:
What is a reception party without great food? Because the Beach House is primarily a restaurant, you can be confident in the standard of excellence by which Executive Chef Marshall Blanchard measures himself and his creations. Clients are given the choice of different lunch and dinner menus that range in price from $45-$100/person and include 2-3 courses.
From their selection, you can choose which plates you think will go best with your party and, on some of the more expensive menus, you can select options from which your guests can choose during mealtime. This is island dining at its very finest. From Macadamia Nut Crusted Kauai Fresh Catch served with a Citrus Aka Miso Beurre Blanc to Angus Beef Filet Mignon with Maytag Blue Cheese and Bacon Butter, served with Grilled Asparagus and Garlic Mashed Potatoes – I have no doubt you’ll be pleased.
If a casual party where guests can walk around and mingle is more your style, you can also choose from their list of hors d’oeuvres ($2-$6/piece) that includes plates such as Herb Gorgonzola Stuffed Tomatoes with Micro Basil and Seared Ahi on Cucumber with Tobiko Caviar and Wakame.
Finish off your event with a dessert designed by their Pastry Chef: Coconut Cheesecake, Chocolate Mousse Gateau, and their Fresh Fruit and Lilikoi Mousse Parfait are just a few of my recommendations ($10-$17/person). Cocktails are available for order ($9-$11/drink) and can be served throughout your party. Ultimately, the menu is yours to choose from and, believe me, your guests will not leave unimpressed.
Add-ons:
If planning a destination wedding, I suggest looking into the packages put together by the Beach House wedding planners. These packages take the stress out of coordinating from afar. Don’t know how to obtain a Hawaii State Wedding License? Not sure who your officiant should be? The Beach House will take care of all this for you. Their packages range in price from $1,650-$7,650. Each includes assistance with the basics (ceremony venue, officiant, wedding coordinator, seating, and basic decor) and the more expensive packages include luxurious add-ons (flowers, butterfly or dove release, professional photographer, etc.). Check out their Special Events Guide to see a detailed outline of each package.
The greatest part about choosing the Beach House Restaurant to host your wedding party is that you can rest assured that the day with go off without a hitch. You can keep all your guests in one beautiful location where they can mingle, relax, eat delicious food, and celebrate the reason for the occasion – YOU! Trust me, they will be talking about your wedding for years to come.
