The 4th of July on Kauai

The Island of Kauai is a great place to celebrate the Fourth of July. Aside from its gorgeous sunny weather and abundance of beaches with barbecuing and picnic areas, Kauai hosts several Independence Day parades and community events.

FreedomFest

To start off the July 4th weekend, the Freedom Fest will take place at Pacific Missile Range Facility on July 3, 2016 from 5pm to 10pm. Everyone is welcome to attend this free public event and carnival rides, craft booths, and food vendors will be on hand to provide plenty of entertainment. Top 40 band Dishwala will headline the celebration, and there will also be a fireworks show starting at 9:45pm.

KauaiHospice

If you’d like to have a great time will giving back to a worthy cause, head to the Kauai Hospice Annual Independence Day Friendraiser. This special event is in its 27th year and will include a children’s fun zone with water slides, bounce houses, face painting, and activity booths. There will also be live music and an awesome 3D fireworks show to cap off the night. Children age 5 and under get in for free, and admission is $5 for kids age 6 to 12 and $10 for adults if you buy your tickets in advance. At the gate, tickets are $7 for children age 6 to 12 and $15 for adults. All proceeds from this July 4th celebration benefit Kauai Hospice, which provides bereavement support to families who have lost loved ones and hospice services to those who are terminally ill.

KekahaFireworks

On Kauai’s west side at Faye Park the Kekaha Fourth of July Celebration Event will be held. This large festival will feature food and beverage booths, contests, live music, game booths, children’s rides, cultural exhibits, and much more. There will also be a talent show where local residents will face off in an entertaining, friendly competition. The celebration, which takes place at Vidinha Soccer Field from 4pm to 9:30pm, will end with a fantastic nighttime fireworks display. The fun starts at 4pm and lasts until 9:30pm.

These are some of the key events going on this Independence Day, but many other Kauai retailers and venues will also hold their own public holiday gatherings and parties. If you’ll be in the area this Fourth of July, be sure to check out the festivities happening on Kauai.
