Every Friday night, Hanapepe road comes alive. The gallery stroll begins and locals walk around, taking in the beautiful art and eating delicious food. This may sound like a high-brow event, but it’s incredibly inviting to people of all ages and interests. Art Night is versatile – it appeals to the old and the young and can be made into an entire night event or a casual drop-in event right before dinner. Another upside? It’s free.
Art featured includes painting, ceramics, and much more. If art is not your thing, you may be interested in stopping by the bookstore and thumbing through their collection of new and secondhand books. There is also a charming cafe, an old jewelry store, and a shop that sells made-in-Kauai children’s clothes. They even host a few delicious food trucks! Hanapepe road has something for everyone.
My favorite part? The vibe and ambiance – you can even feel it all the way here in the ocean! Hanapepe road takes you back to the days of small-town main street where everyone knew each other and would come out on Friday nights to catch up on gossip and eat good food. This is an experience of days gone by, so come and relive the good old times…and catch some great art along the way.
