Pool Instructions
Pool Cover
– Unlock the flap with the key.
– Press and hold the switch DOWN to uncover the pool and UP to cover it. Release the switch once the cover reaches the end.
- Please keep the pool covered when it is not being used.
Pool Cover Pump
– Once the pool is covered, place the pump back on top of the cover. This helps prevent rainwater from accumulating and adding excess weight to the cover.
Pool Heating
– Use the wall control panel and select Pool Mode.
– From there, you can activate the pool heat and adjust the temperature. When heating is active, the button will appear red and display the set temperature
Spa Instructions
– With the pool cover open, use the wall control panel to operate the spa, jets, and lights.
– Select each option to activate it. A green light indicates that the feature is on.
– You can also use the panel to turn on the spa lights and select your preferred color.
– Please note that the controls built into the concrete around the pool do not work, so all spa functions should be controlled from the wall panel.
Pool & Spa Information
The pool is heated so please keep it covered when not in use. Not only does it keep the pool warm it will keep it clean from debris for you and our other guests. The pool is kept at a comfortable 83 degrees. Please do not adjust the pool temperature as it can put extra strain on the heater and can break the chlorine down faster causing the pool to grow algea. Remember, a pump is often left on top of the cover to pump any rain water off of the cover. If it is out upon your arrival, please just pull it off carefully and set it out of the way.
Pool:
– The pool is regularly serviced once a week. Please let us know if it needs attention.
– Pool/beach towels are provided in the laundry room. Please do not use the bath towels for the pool or beach.
– Children must be supervised near the pool at all times.
Spa Information:
– Please double check you are in Spa mode before turning up the temperature to avoid heating the entire pool to 103. If the spa is being constantly run for too long it will also start to increase the temperature of the pool. Please avoid this by only using the spa for an hour or two at a time. As stated above, if the pool gets too hot it begins to breakdown the chlorine too fast and will cause the pool to get foggy and can irritate those with sensitive skin. It also puts additional wear and tear on the equipment and gets very expensive. We reserve the right to pass along to the guest
any costs related to excessive spa and pool heating.
When you are done with the spa, please return it to Pool mode using the Mode button or it will remain in Spa mode and continue to heat the entire pool to 103. Sometimes when you return it to Pool mode, the temperature will remain set at 103. If this happens, please set the pool temperature back to 83.
Landscaping:
The landscaping company comes on Wednesdays to mow the lawn and trim the landscaping. The pool will need to be vacated and covered while they mow around it. This does not take more than 15 minutes but you must allow them to complete their work. We have had issues with guests asking them not to mow during their stay but this causes the yard to become overgrown and incurrs additional charges from them at the next service. Any additional costs incurred due to guests not allowing them to complete their work will be passed on to the guest.
Air Conditioning
The house is equipped with A/C. We keep the thermostat set to a comfortable temperature so please do not adjust it too much. Temperature can be controlled by the wall thermostats.
Kitchen & Coffee
The kitchen is fully equipped with modern, high-end appliances and everything you need for cooking and entertaining.
You’ll find:
- Gas range and oven
- Microwave
- Dishwasher
- Toaster
- Wine glasses
- Drip coffee maker
- Coffee grinder
- Cookware, dishes, utensils, and kitchen essentials
There is also a mini fridge in the outdoor BBQ area for added convenience.
Tiki Bar
The home includes a dedicated tiki bar area with a complete set of bar tools, making it easy to prepare drinks and enjoy the indoor-outdoor entertaining space.
Laundry
Hale Maia has a full laundry room with washer and dryer available for guest use. If you plan to do laundry during your stay, we recommend bringing your preferred laundry detergent.
Workspace
For guests who need to work during their stay, the home includes a dedicated workspace with:
- Printer
- Comfortable work area
- Beautiful views
Sound System
Hale Maia has a built-in sound Sonos system throughout the home, divided into different living areas. You can connect quickly and control music by zone, allowing you to play audio in the areas you’re using without needing to activate the entire home. It is automatically connected to the tv whenever the tv turns on. You can connect a phone for music by opening your preferred music app and selecting the Sonos device from your phone’s AirPlay/LocalCast settings.
Respect our Neighbors
We have a few neighbors who are full time residents. Please respect them and the enjoyment of their homes by keeping noise to a minimum beginning at 9 pm. We also ask that you please turn off any exterior lights when they are not in use or before turning in for the night.
Trash
Please tie full trash bags tightly and take out to the outdoor cans located under the stairs to the Ohana apartment. Trash pick up is early Tuesday morning. The pool technician will take the cans to the street on Monday evening and someone else will bring them back in on Tuesday. Please do not place the cans in the garage. The person who picks up the cans does not have access to the garage so if they are put away he cannot empty them. It can also get hot and stuffy in the garage and the garbage will quickly begin to rot.
Amenities and Attractions
– Beach Toys: You may find beach chairs, coolers, snorkel gear, surf/body boards, toys, and other beach items at the home.
These items are left for guests to enjoy when available, but the selection can change between stays, so we recommend bringing or renting anything essential for your plans.
Snorkel gear, surfboards, body boards, and other beach equipment are also easy to rent from local activity shops around the island.
– Kukuiula Resort: Unfortunately, access to the Kukuiula resort amenities are not included with our rental program.
– Rentals: Many guests enjoy renting bikes or a golf cart to get around the neighborhood and down to the beach. Kauai Carts is near the house and offers street legal cart rentals. There are other bike, surf, and beach rental shops not far from the house in Poipu.
The home, private pool, spa, outdoor areas, and all amenities located directly at the property are available for your enjoyment.
A Few Things You May Want to Bring:
- Coffee and drip-style coffee filters — a coffee grinder is provided
- Laundry detergent if you plan to wash clothes
- Cooking condiments beyond salt and pepper
- Any beach equipment that is essential to your plans
You may find several additional items already at the property, but availability can vary between stays.
