Pool Information

The pool is heated so please keep it covered when not in use. Not only does it keep the pool warm it will keep it clean from debris for you and our other guests. The pool is kept at a comfortable 83 degrees. Please do not adjust the pool temperature as it can put extra strain on the heater and can break the chlorine down faster causing the pool to grow algea. A pump is often left on top of the cover to pump any rain water off of the cover. If it is out upon your arrival, please just pull it off carefully and set it out of the way.

Operating the pool cover:

There is a keypad on the exterior wall next to the large sliding glass door that goes in/out from the main living area.

– To open the pool cover, enter the code 1975  then press (✔) and hold the open button until the cover is fully retracted.
– To close, enter the same code (1975) and hold the  (✔) button until it is  completely closed.
– The pool is regularly serviced once a week. Please let us know if it needs attention.
– Pool/beach towels are provided in the laundry room. Please do not use the bath towels for the pool or beach
– Children must be supervised near the pool at all times.

Spa Information

– The spa must be activated manually before each use.
– The control panel is set into the concrete near the steps into the spa.
– The indicator lights on the top left will show what mode the heater is in. The picture with the little ladder indicates pool mode and the picture with the 2 little people indicates Spa mode. Pool mode is it’s default state.

To activate the spa, click the Mode button once (the button with three lines) and the indicator light should switch from Pool to Spa and the indicator for the heater (the little fire) will also light up. You should also see water begin to move in the spa as the pump activates. The spa should only take about 30 minutes to get to temperature.

Please double check you are in Spa mode before turning up the temperature to avoid heating the entire pool to 103. If the spa is being constantly run for too long it will also start to increase the temperature of the pool. Please avoid this by only using the spa for an hour or two at a time. As stated above, if the pool gets too hot it begins to breakdown the chlorine too fast and will cause the pool to get foggy and can irritate those with sensitive skin. It also puts additional wear and tear on the equipment and gets very expensive. We reserve the right to pass along to the guest
any costs related to excessive spa and pool heating.

When you are done with the spa, please return it to Pool mode using the Mode
button or it will remain in Spa mode and continue to heat the entire pool to 103. Sometimes when you return it to Pool mode, the temperature will remain set at 103. If this happens, please set the pool temperature back to 83.

Landscaping

The landscaping company comes on Wednesdays to mow the lawn and trim the landscaping. The pool will need to be vacated and covered while they mow around it. This does not take more than 15 minutes but you must allow them to complete their work. We have had issues with guests asking them not to mow during their stay but this causes the yard to become overgrown and incurrs additional charges from them at the next service. Any additional costs incurred due to guests not allowing them to complete their work will be passed on to the guest.

Trash

Please tie full trash bags tightly and take out to the outdoor cans located under the stairs to the Ohana apartment. Trash pick up is early Tuesday morning. The pool technician will take the cans to the street on Monday evening and someone else will bring them back in on Tuesday. Please do not place the cans in the garage. The person who picks up the cans does not have access to the garage so if they are put away he cannot empty them. It can also get hot and stuffy in the garage and the garbage will quickly begin to rot.

Air Conditioning

The house is equipped with A/C. We keep the thermostat set to a comfortable temperature so please do not adjust it too much. Temperature can be controlled by the wall thermostats.

Sound System

There is a Sonos surround sound system in the main living area. It is automatically connected to the tv whenever the tv turns on. You can connect a phone for music by opening your preferred music app and selecting the Sonos device from your phone’s AirPlay/LocalCast settings.

Respect our Neighbors

We have a few neighbors who are full time residents. Please respect them and the enjoyment of their homes by keeping noise to a minimum beginning at 9 pm. We also ask that you please turn off any exterior lights when they are not in use or before turning in for the night.

Amenities and Attractions

– Beach Toys: There are a few beach chairs, umbrellas, toys and other items provided for your use in the garage. Please clean off any sand after use and return them to their place in the garage for the next guests to use. If any of the items are in need of attention please let us know.

– Kukuiula Resort: Unfortunately, access to the Kukuiula resort amenities are not included with our rental program.

– Rentals: Many guests enjoy renting bikes or a golf cart to get around the neighborhood and down to the beach. Kauai Carts is near the house and offers street legal cart rentals. There are other bike, surf, and beach rental shops not far from the house in Poipu.
